The Twins have acquired Nationals closer Matt Capps and cash in exchange for top catching prospect Wilson Ramos and LHP Joe Testa writes Scott Miller of CBS Sports and the Nationals official Twitter page. Capps, 26, signed a one-year deal worth 3.5 million with the Nationals in the offseason, and has had an all-star season with a 2.74 ERA and 26 saves in 48 innings pitched. But with Capps only on the books for the remainder of this season, is it worth giving up a top prospect for?
Ramos, 22, has been the center of trade talk for the Twins leading up to the deadline, even for a name such as Cliff Lee. For a one year signing in Capps ultimately leading to the Nationals acquiring a player considered the top power hitter and defensive catcher in the organization, the Nationals offseason move has to be looking like an even bigger steal at this point. Ramos in 295 plate appearances in the minors is hitting .241/.280/.345 with 5 homeruns and 30 RBI in a down year. Testa, 24, is a lefty reliever currently playing for Fort Myers in A, after being demoted from AA.
